A Gasket is a Mechanical Seal that fills the space between two mating surface, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression. It utilizes a mix of metallic material and filler material generally the gasket has no chosen metal, normally a carbon rich or stainless steel.
It is manufactured in accordance with relevant standards (such as ASME B16.20, API 6A) to suit different flange designations ( such as ASME B16.5, ASME B16.47 Series A, API 6B, API 6BX, etc).
